Powermatic

Powermatic-LogoPowermatic is an American based woodworking machine company. From drill presses to lathes, planers and power feeders, Powermatic produces top of the line equipment to maintain its position as a benchmark and gold standard in the woodworking industry. It all started in 1921 when Leonard Smith, founded the company and decided to shift from a small timber shop to a woodworking manufacturing company in 1928 and naming it Powermatic.

One of their most promising products is their dust collector. Dust collectors are devices that collect dust to avoid inconvenience in the shop or anywhere where dust creates a disruption. This kind of dust extracting device is always needed to clear up the place and improve air quality for a better and more comfortable working environment.

Powermatic’s dust collectors come in 2 basic models.  Further variations to the models are made with different specifications. The “PM1300TX” and the “PM1900TX” are the two basic dust collecting devices offered by Powermatic. Powermatic dust collectors are one of the best, if not the best in the market. They have the exclusive TurboConeTM  technology which prevents dust filter congestion while simultaneously increasing the efficiency of the dust collector bags. They have an incredible 98% capture efficiency for particles as small as 2 micron in size. All models have a metal-duct structure for firmness and improved air flow for maximum performance delivery. A massive 10 cubic feet collection bag means you don’t have to worry about changing the bag every now and then. All models come with a 5 year warranty.

The major difference between the two base models is the power that they produce. PM1300TX is the smaller of the two with a 1.5hp motor while PM1900TX has a motor of 3hp, double the size.

For those not too familiar with terms used to measure a dust collector’s performance, the following measures are used:

  • CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute): the volume of air a collector moves; and,
  • SP (Static Pressure): the number of inches of pressure created.

A high CFM rating shows that the collector can handle a higher output, either more chips or multiple machines.  A high SP rating indicates that more ductwork can be used and the unit will still be efficient.

With high CFM and SP ratings, Powermatic’s TurboCone™ technology ensures that top performance is achieved.

Furthermore, Powermatic also provides various accessories with the dust collectors to additionally improve customer experience.

  • ABS Plastic Blast Gates
  • Aluminum Blast Gates
